Introduced just before the CBS takeover of Fender, the Mustang was part of a redesign of Fender's line of student level guitars which included the Duo-sonic and Musicmaster. The Mustang offered somewhat more sophisticated electronics than earlier student guitars and also featured a 24-inch scale length. In its earliest era, the Mustang was available in a shorter 22 1/2-inch scale length, but these guitars are very uncommon. This is the 22 1/2-inch scale so we know it’s as early as they come. We suspect the finish was White before being naturalized in a very smooth, clean job. Comes in original case that has some wear with some of the inside material lifting away in the corner of the lid side. All nicks and scratches shown in pictures, it’s showing it’s age yet still plays great. Recommended to anyone who needs a smaller neck size and who loves short scales.
